Pampered Pooch

If you are a dog lover, then you know that you are guilty of spoiling your pooch on occasion, but sometimes finding a really special gift for your friend can be a challenge. There are many retailers that specialize in pet supplies and various gifts, but the internet has a truly unique selection available. One of the benefits of being an online retailer is that there is little to no overhead, such as the rent or power bill that a bricks and mortar store has to pay. This allows businesses who specialize in online retailing to offer more merchandise at larger discounts than their brick and mortar competitors.

There are tons of amazing gifts that you can find for your four legged friend online, and searching for the perfect item can be half the fun. One of the benefits of shopping with an online retailer is that they have made things a little easier because you won’t have to walk around looking for the items you need. They are usually grouped into categories that are only a click away. This makes the sometimes daunting task of finding that special something so much easier than ever before. You can also shop anytime you want because online stores usually never close!

The amount of special items you can find online is virtually limitless. And the experience of coming to a comfortable chair and relaxing while you shop for your pooch is extremely enjoyable. When you are shopping for your friend, be sure to consider what size they are. Most items have recommendations on the size dog or measurements that will allow you to know if the product will work for you. You want to make sure your dog will actually fit in the pet bed you purchase, and you definitely want your Chihuahua to be able to carry their toy where they want it to go. There is no harm in purchasing a larger toy for your friend, but you want to be sure that they can transport it easily.

You can also purchase treats for your friend online, but it is important to be concerned about their welfare. Be sure and have regular visits to your veterinarian so you can be sure of your dog’s health before you load him up on treats. However, there are special treats available for animals. Some treats contain vitamins and minerals that will help your dog’s teeth, while others can be beneficial to your dog’s coat. Be sure you use a treat that will be beneficial to your pet.

More and more people today are pampering their pet. With the wide variety of products available it is becoming easier to do. Online retailers are making this easier as well. Showing love to your pet can be a very rewarding experience and shopping online to do this can help you enjoy the time you spend with your friend while saving you money. If you spoil your pet, consider shopping online for all of his or her needs.

Exercising with your Dog

Exercising with your Dog

According to the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention, an estimated 50% of dogs in the Unites States are overweight. Just like adults, our pets could use a little more exercise. With it being New Year’s Resolution Season, many of us are vowing to get fit for our resolution, so if you are looking to get into a new exercise routine, why not help your dog out and find a few ways to incorporate your dog into your new exercise regimen and both of you can lose a few extra pounds just in time for swim suit season!

One of the simplest and easiest exercises you can do with your dog is to take a simple walk. Walking is one of the most highly recommended exercises for beginners and experts alike. Get out that leash and harness and take your dog with you. Go to a local park with a good walking trail and enjoy walking with your dog for recreation and exercise. Extend your dogs outside potty breaks with a brisk walk around the block. Make sure when you take your dog out for walks for exercise do not forget to take your plastic bags with you. It’s likely that your dog will need to relieve himself while you are outdoors, so please be a responsible pet owner and pick up after your pooch.

Once you know your dog can handle a nice run, you can take your dog with you when you go for a bike ride. Be sure your dog can handle this much exertion before you try to tackle a long ride. If your dog wants to get out and run, but you are not up for a bike ride, find a local dog park and go play some fetch. Throwing a ball or toy is great exercise for you and will entertain your dog for quite some time.

Another fun trend are boot camps designed to train your dog and get you both some exercise at the same time. If you would like to take your dog out for more outdoor exercise but he or she is not great on a leash and does not pay attention to your commands, sign up for a dog boot camp that will get you both the exercise you need and teach your pet some obedience lessons at the same time. A well-behaved and trained dog will be a much better exercise companion.

Your dog will likely benefit as much (if not more) from a little exercise as you will. If you have resolved to lose a little weight or get into better shape for the New Year, you might as well take your loyal companion with you for a little company and help improve his or her quality of life at the same time. As with any new exercise regimen, please make sure that your pet is in good enough shape to start out at the same level as you and do not over do it. Work up to a good pace and be sure not to over exert your pet.
